Yeah, that's pretty nice. Wish it would just send me your comment instead of a link.

I understand why they don't. The idea of keeping the thread context would be important, and confusing if it wasn't there.

Agreed

I got a notification that you sent me a private message, Bwana, but the link it sent me didn't retrieve it (just gave me your profile page). Where do you pick up private messages?
commented by itafroma, 6 months, 1 week ago
I have no idea. That was my first private message

hey guys !!
robdian you are spot on and we've been going over this problem again and again.
other than the context issue there is a problem of coming up with a simple way to reply via IM (coz once you start getting comments over IM, you'd want to reply too :P ) , one way is to reply using a unique hash for a kwip but then am not sure if everyone esp the ones who are new to microblogging would get it and use it..
thoughts ?

Hey Mayank, if you provided a simple directive to someone on each message, it shouldn't be too bad. Something like "Mayank responded to your thread, 'Hey guys !! <insert rest of comment here>" To respond, reply with #3321 followed by your comment or go to http://www.kwippy.com/itafroma/kwips/2008/jul/05/174946/ . One thing to note is even with Twitter when IM was working, IM was used by a small portion of power users. Most new people are going to stick to the web interface, anyway.

ya, that's precisely what I was thinking of.
This thing is quite high on the feature list and will do something about it soon :)
